What documents do I need to sell my vehicle on Motorway?
To sell your vehicle on Motorway, you need to share a selection of documents to make sure that the sale of your car is legal, and to prove your identity.
When you're profiling your vehicle
Service history
- When profiling your car, you'll be prompted to upload images of your service history documents
- These documents allow us to calculate an appropriate reserve price that reflects the quality and condition of your vehicle
- Your vehicle's service history is a record of all the maintenance work carried out on it during its lifetime
- A full service history provides dealers with a comprehensive picture of the vehicle's upkeep and overall condition
During the online daily sale
When your vehicle is in our sale, we’ll need the documents below. You can upload these copies as photos using your camera or a home scanner.
We’ll let you know if the image quality is high enough. If it’s not, we’ll ask you to upload these documents again.
Driving licence
- We need a current driving licence – we don’t accept expired documents
- Only upload a photo of the front of the document
- Your licence must have the same name and address as your V5C logbook
- Driving licences can be issued in any country. Provisional licences are also accepted as a valid form of ID
V5C logbook
We need to see the first 3 pages of your V5C logbook.
Your bank details
We will only ever share with a dealer once you’ve confirmed a sale with them, so you can enjoy fast payment.
Finance settlement letter – if your vehicle has outstanding finance
Please note that these are only valid for a short period, and we require any quoted value to be valid for at least ten days from when you upload it.
