How does Motorway's refer-a-friend scheme work?

All Motorway customers have the opportunity to split £100 in Amazon.co.uk Gift Cards with our refer-a-friend scheme.

This reward level applies to all referrals where a car is successfully sold and collected.

Our refer-a-friend scheme lets you share a referral link with friends over email, SMS, WhatsApp, Facebook, and other platforms.

For every friend you refer who completes the sale of their car with Motorway, with their car collected*, both you and that friend will each receive a £50 Amazon.co.uk Gift Card.

How do I refer my friends to Motorway?

• Go to our refer-a-friend page and enter your details so we can send you and your friends your rewards.
• All your friend needs to do for both of you to earn a £50 Amazon.co.uk Gift Card is to sell their car with Motorway, via our refer-a-friend page, using your unique link.
• To be eligible for the reward, your friend must not have sold their vehicle with Motorway in the last 12 months, or have already been referred by someone else.

Are there any limits or restrictions?

• You will only receive a £50 Amazon.co.uk Gift Card if your friend completes the sale, with their car collected. 
• Your friend must have a car that is eligible to be sold on Motorway’s online daily sale to our nationwide dealer network** to receive their £50 Amazon.co.uk Gift Card. 
• Motorway will indicate eligibility for our dealer network** when any customer values their car. Cars that are not sold on our dealer network can be sold via our car buying partners CarTakeBack or TheCarBuyingGroup. However, if the car is sold through these other companies, your friend will not be eligible for the £50 Amazon.co.uk Gift Card. 
• Your friend must visit the Motorway website via your referral link in order to be eligible. We will not be able to track your referral if your friend has not used your MentionMe link to sign up to sell their car.
• If your friend has not clicked through via your referral link and has completed the sale of their car, or is in the process of selling their car, unfortunately we cannot retrospectively reward the offer, or include the customer into the refer a friend scheme, in these instances.
• If your friend has completed the sale of their car with Motorway within the last 12 months, they are not eligible for the £50 Amazon.co.uk Gift Card by selling another car. Only customers who have not sold a car with Motorway within the last 12 months are eligible.
• Gaming controls are in place to prevent promotion abuse.
• There are no costs or fees associated with selling your car with Motorway, or with our refer-a-friend scheme.

I’ve referred someone to Motorway with a MentionMe link. When will we both get our Amazon.co.uk Gift Cards?

• We will email you and your friend as soon as you are eligible to receive your Amazon.co.uk Gift Cards. You will each receive your £50 Amazon.co.uk Gift Card within 7 days of your friend completing the sale.

I’ve signed up to the refer-a-friend scheme but can’t remember what the offer was or how to share it.

• If you signed up to our scheme previously but can no longer find your link to refer your friends, follow the steps on our refer-a-friend page to get your referral link to share.

I signed up to the refer-a-friend scheme with a fake name, can I change it?

• Just go to our refer-a-friend page and you’ll be able to register again with your correct name.

I referred my friend to Motorway through MentionMe, but I haven’t received my Amazon.co.uk Gift Card yet. 

This could be for several reasons:

• Your friend has not yet completed the sale of their car, with their car collected.
• Your friend has completed the sale of their car, but they have also previously sold another car with Motorway within the last twelve months. Only friends who have not sold with Motorway in the last 12 months are eligible for the Gift Card.
• They did not follow your refer-a-friend link that you gave them when they sold their car.
• Your friend’s car was not eligible to be sold in our online daily sales to our nationwide dealer network**, but rather they sold their car via our partners CarTakeBack or TheCarBuyingGroup. This makes your friend’s sale ineligible for our refer-a-friend scheme.
• It has been fewer than 7 days since your friend completed the sale of their car. In these instances, you can assume the reward is on its way soon.
• When you opted in to the refer-a-friend scheme, you used a different email address. Please check that email account for your Gift Card instead.
• If none of these apply to you and your friend, please contact our customer service team and provide your own details, including the reg of the car sold, your name and email address, as well as the name of your referee.

I was referred to Motorway with my friend's MentionMe link, and sold my car, but I haven’t received my Amazon.co.uk Gift Card yet. 

This could be for several reasons:

• You have already sold a car with Motorway in the last 12 months. 
• You sold your car via CarTakeBack or TheCarBuyingGroup and not in our online daily sale to our nationwide dealer network**, making the sale ineligible for our refer-a-friend scheme.
• It has been fewer than 7 days since you completed the sale of your car, with your car collected – in which case you can assume the reward is on its way soon. 
• You did not follow your refer-a-friend link correctly. Either you did not opt-in using the same email address as the one you sold your car with, or you typed your friend’s link in incorrectly. If this is the case, please contact our customer service team and provide your own details, including the reg of the car sold, your name and email address, as well as the name of your referrer.

You do not need to contact us to tell us you completed the sale of your car to receive your reward, as it will be sent automatically.

Please wait 7 days after you have sold your car to receive your email with your Amazon.co.uk Gift Card.

*A completed sale of a car means that the car must be sold and collected by the dealer
**Eligibility criteria for selling via our dealer network applies, based on vehicle model, age, and mileage.
