To verify your identity and validate the sale of your vehicle, we require a clear copy of your driving licence.
We ask you to upload this to Motorway while your vehicle is in the daily sale, to save you some time once a deal is agreed. Your driving licence is also required on the day of collection, to prove to your buyer that you are who you say you are.
Please note that the name and the address on the driving licence should match the name and the address stated on the V5C logbook. If there is a mismatch, you will need to provide an additional proof of address document – this must match either the licence or the V5C logbook. A supporting proof of address can include a utility bill, a council tax bill, a letter from HMRC, or a bank statement. Any of these options must be dated within the last three months.
Driving licences can be issued in any country. Provisional licences are also accepted as a valid form of ID.
If you don't have a valid driving licence or if it has expired, we can accept an alternative document to prove your identity – normally, this will be a passport.
