If you have recently purchased your vehicle from a dealership and become the registered keeper within the last six months, you will be asked to produce valid proof of purchase before selling with Motorway.
This means you will be asked to provide an official purchase invoice or receipt from the dealer where you bought it. The dealer must be registered at Companies House and/or VAT-registered. We are unable to accept handwritten invoices.
If ownership of your vehicle was transferred to you from a family member and you have been the registered keeper for less than six months, we require either the proof of purchase or copies of both the previous and new V5C documents, showing the same family name or home address.
If you are selling a vehicle within six months of buying it, we ask for proof of purchase from a dealership, as this is a short period of vehicle ownership and might suggest that the vehicle is in some way faulty.
Dealerships are held to higher legal standards, with a greater right to return, which means that vehicles bought through them represent a lower overall risk. Whereas, privately purchased or auction-bought vehicles lack this purchase security - and, unfortunately, this means our buyers will not purchase them within six months of ownership.
